Andrea really hit it out of the park with this collection. Inspired by princesses, Girly and Strong is filled with pink and cute iconography. It’s easy to fall into that trap and think it’s only for Disney or girly stuff so I wanted to challenge myself to make something ungirly in my traveler’s notebook with it. It was so much easier than I expected!
I’m a big fan of World of Warcraft and during this most recent release, they created something called Legendaries. They’re items you wear that are super powerful and very rare. You’re only allowed to wear two and they’re made specifically for the type of class you play. My druid just got hers and oh wow… look at that! I had to take a picture because that hat looks so insane! It’s basically a crazy tree face I wear over my whole head. What? Blizzard, come on!
When I decided to challenge myself to use the kit in a not-so-girly way, I looked to the kit to inspire what pictures I might want to use. As soon as I saw that “stay weird” sticker on the word stickers sheet, I knew it had to be this one.
Everything in this layout, except for the emoji sticker (which is from the Simple Stories Emoji Love Cardstock Stickers*), is from the Girly and Strong kit… even the sequins! I used a sketch from the Start with a Sketch | 03 course on Big Picture Classes and converted it to a traveler’s notebook so I could keep it in my Felicity Jane “random stuff” notebook. It was originally set up for a 12×12 and everything was horizontal. For the notebook, I just turned it on it’s side and made everything vertical. Easy peasy!
If you’re interested in the kit, check out Andrea’s site and subscribe here! Also, if you’d like to join some fellow crafters at Disneyland, she’s holding an event on June 2nd. I’ll be there and I’m so excited!
