When I found out about this, I was so excited! If you’ve been in the scrapbooking community for awhile, you may be familiar with Ali Edwards’ December Daily project. If not, the short version is that it’s an album documenting the day to day of your holiday season. Well, I stumbled across this video by Serena Bee on YouTube and knew that I had to start an October Daily album! If you’d like more information about it, she has a post up on her blog with tons more.
Since it’s a very new and small thing, there aren’t a lot of kits you can choose from (though Serena Bee does make and sell her own!) so it’s got a DIY vibe. Going kit-less can make me very nervous since kits can be very safe and comforting but since I have my Halloween colors for the year, I felt more confident starting my own.
First things first, I needed an album. In the past, I’ve done a one album per year plan, but I’m in the middle of transitioning to a Library of Memories style approach (more on that later but for now check out this post on Simple Scrapper.) Because my life isn’t super busy on a daily basis, I decided instead to go the mini album route. However, I’m leaving this open to changing. Since I have my Halloween capsule, I may take a picture of my outfit every day. If I do that, it’s going to overwhelm the mini book pretty quickly. We’ll see where it ends up at the end of the project.
Beyond that, I put items from my physical and digital stash in one of the Iris boxes I have. I’ll be grabbing it out to build the whole thing as I go. Most of this is from scrapbook.com. Check out my Instagram during the project to see what I’ve tagged from where.
Here’s a video I put together of all the items I have in my scrapping box. Check it out and let me know in the comments below if you’ve been inspired to start your own October Daily!
