Say hello to Ruby! She’s been with us a month today and I can hardly believe it. It seems like just yesterday! Here she is just a couple of days ago. She’s grown so quickly, I think mostly because the baby chunk started to fall off once she got here and had her big brother to play with all day.
I’ve been struggling for awhile with a lack of inspiration when it comes to paper crafting. I haven’t done any Project Life since late March and I failed to make Mother’s Day cards because I couldn’t find the oomph to actually do it. However, my friend Michelle was celebrating her birthday in a big way and that required a card!
I went about this card very differently than I have for all my other cards. I usually pick a theme then create something around that theme. This time, while digging through my stash, I discovered/remembered I’d picked up an October Afternoon Cakewalk pack when they had them on sale! So, I collected it all together and started just to see what I’d come up with!
What came out is what you see above! I cut the paper using a cut file from a Studio Calico class I took. Next, I decided to add the Little Flyers stickers to some paper straws I had left over from my birthday to create birthday flag poles. I needed something to fill in the bottom left corner and to cover the ends of the poles, so I selected a bunch of smaller items from the flower pack and created a layered piece over and around the end of the poles. I added a quick sentiment and note inside and ta da! Done!
I really like how it came out. Like I said, this process was new to me and I was expecting it to take forever. I think the longest part was trying to find all the product in my stash! Looking back on this has inspired me again. Maybe it’s time to PL again!
