The first week of the new year has come and gone and that means it’s time for another Project Life post! I’ve decided that this year, I’ll be using calendar weeks, so the first week ran from Tuesday to Saturday. The short lazy week was also great for using only one side/page for so that I could start evenly on two pages for week two!
I had a free hour and a half where my husband was out of the house and my dog was taking a nap, so I gathered all my needed items, put on some Puella Magi Madoka Magica and started on it. Thankfully, this week was sort of eventful, so I had a few things to work with.
The first row is pretty straightforward. I grabbed my 2X Instagram PSD and dropped two images I took from my New Year’s Day post into it. The digital stamp on the bottom is from the Studio Calico Block Party Digital Project Life Stamps (I’m a horrible stamper so I’m finding these far more useful) and I added a strip of MSC washi tape to the top to add a splash of color. As you can see, I’m not a fan of white space and that card was way too much for my taste! The card next to it is just a piece of paper from the Studio Calico 34th Street Card Kit I cut down to 4×6 and adhered my badge from Anime Los Angeles to.
The next row is all cards from In A Creative Bubble’s Family and Everyday No. 1 journalling cards. The “you & me” is from Studio Calico’s August printable (which I must have grabbed during their Black Friday sale. That was awesome! Opening the vault FTW!)
The bottom row contains an image from Kamisama Kiss, a romantic anime I binged on all day Saturday. Originally, I’d used a digital stamp to stamp Saturday on it, but I didn’t like how it looked, so I used one of the cut files from the Studio Calico Day-By-Day class to make a little Saturday ticket out of more paper from the 34th Street card kit. Looks much nicer, though it doesn’t photograph well! The right card is from In a Creative Bubble’s Calendar Cards set.
A couple of things about this spread in particular:
– I think this is one of the first times I’ve used memorabilia from things I’ve done in a spread. When I saw the badge I knew I had to keep it to add to Project Life!
– This is one of the few photos of my husband and I actually looking cute at the same time. I tend to be photogenic, but when I’m not, it’s pretty bad. He’s a good looking guy, but not very photogenic generally speaking. And usually we can’t get ourselves together well enough to both be photogenic at the same time. I randomly caught a moment of that with Instagram on our way to ALA and I was so glad!
Seeing this all come together with ease was a pretty proud moment for me. I took the opportunity to look back at some of the work I did just a few months ago when I was just starting out and I can see the difference those few months have made. I’ve really pushed myself creatively with this and as I do, I create better and better layouts. Pretty damn proud of that and it makes me excited to see where I’ll be at the end of the year! I’m hoping the answer is good enough to submit my work for membership in a few creative teams!
