Ryan's Super Birthday!

My husband’s 34th birthday was coming up and I was really looking forward to making him a card. He’s my biggest supporter when it comes to this new endeavor of mine so it only seemed right I would make him one. When I told him I would be, he was super psyched!

Now, I had the perfect idea of what to get him for his birthday. I wanted to get him the Iron Man Mark 7: Hero’s Edition Nendoroid but it doesn’t get released until Feb 2013 and his birthday’s December 23rd. What’s a girl to do? Think of a different gift? Heck no! I improvise!

I booted up Photoshop and used one of the free paislee press 4×6 layout templates, dropping the product shots in to each slot. After that, I added the descriptive text from the Good Smile site to add a bit more flair and fill in the right hand side. I printed it out on some glossy 4×6 photo paper to add into the card.

Next, it was time to create the actual card. I used another purchased cut file from the Silhouette online store and cut it out of some red foil paper I got from a Martha Stewart Crafts 12×12 pad. I cut another shape out of a piece of yellow paper from the same pad. I layered the paper so that the yellow showed through the window, then inside was the info card that I created. I folded it about 3/4 the way down so that the Happy Birthday covered the images, but you can still see the text. You can kind of see what I mean in the front photo.

Time to add some lettering! I grabbed from my assorted embellishments (thickers, letters, a speech bubble from a Studio Calico cut file cut from some Martha Stewart Crafts candy striped paper from one of the Christmas mat pads, a label I got in a class kit and a label from IaCB’s Christmas Cut-outs I) and put it all together. As you can see, the gift is from me and the dog. That’s how we roll around here!
